I just received a text from my cellular carrier telling me that I have 50% of my data remaining for the 13 days remaining in my billing cycle. I’m so thankful I get these updates because I am sharing an unheard-of amount of data each month with two of my children. One of them happens to be my 14-year-old daughter.
If it wasn’t for these reminders, I know that we would use more than our plan’s amount each month. When I go online to pay the bill I check out our data usage. I am not amazed at who uses the most, but I am amazed at how much this one unnamed person uses compared to myself and my son.
Usually after receiving one of these texts, I text my children to remind them how much data is remaining for the number of days left in this billing cycle. We typically make it through even if it means turning off our data the last few days. There have been a few months that my daughter has had to pay the overage charge as the consequence to using most of the data.
Abundant Grace
I am so thankful that I don’t get texts from the Holy Spirit informing me that I only have 50% left of the grace that was allotted to me.
What would a text like that say? “Beautiful daughter of the most high God, we are sorry to inform you that your life hasn’t been going very well so you now only have 50% of the grace allotted to you remaining for your mess-ups.”
What would my grace usage schedule look like? Would my children and I have to share a certain amount and then when one of us needed more there wouldn’t be enough left? Is there even a record of how much each of us have used?
I am so thankful that He doesn’t keep a usage record of His grace. In fact, it never runs out! The transformation process hasn’t always looked very pretty in my life, but Jesus was always there to wash me clean and help me get my life back on track.
We know that His mercy is new every morning (Lamentations 3:23) and we are saved by His grace that has been given us as Christ apportioned it (Ephesians 2:8, 4:7). We also know that there is no record of our wrong and as far as the east is from the west that is as far as our sin is from us (1 Corinthians 13:5, Psalm 103:12).
The grace that has been given to us was a free gift with no overage charges. In Romans 5:20 in the Amplified it says,
“But then Law came in, [only] to expand and increase the trespass [making it more apparent and exciting opposition]. But where sin increased and abounded, grace (God’s unmerited favor) has surpassed it and increased the more and super abounded.”
This is amazing! For any area of my life that I need grace, the Father through Jesus, has already surpassed my need. In fact, He not only surpassed my need, He has abounded His grace towards me in my need. His grace overtakes me!
No limits!
What is even more amazing is that everything that Christ has for me is not bound by limits! In our world today of limits and overages, it is hard to fathom that God gives to us without limits. He is a good God that only gives good things to His children. He gives without limits. All His promises are Yes and Amen in Jesus (2 Corinthians 1:20). God’s goodness draws us to Him (Romans 2:4).
May you be encouraged today and roll around in the abundance of all His gifts, given just for you, in Jesus.
Blessings,
